How To Make Vegetable Masala Idli




Masala Idli Ingredients

1 cup Rava
1 Cup Curd
1 Onion (chopped)
1 Cup Peas (boiled)
1 Carrot (chopped)
2 Green Chilies
Few Coriander Leaves
1/2 cup Water
1 tsp. Fruit Salt
Salt to waste


Method To Make Masala Idli


  • In a bowl mix rava, curd, vegetables and salt together and let it stand for at least 20 mins.
  • Add fruit salt & mix well. Place the masala idli batter in the microwave for 4 mins. At 100% power.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves. Serve it with tomato sauce & green chutney.

Chef’s Tip:- For plain idlis, vegetables can be omitted. In masala idli, Cashew nuts be can also used.

Idli On Gas



1 cup suji
1 cup Beaten Rice
250 gms Bottle Gourd
2 medium size Carrot
1 cup Vermicelli
4 Green Chilli
1 tsp Ginger paste
3 cups Yogurt (Dahi)
1/2 cup Coconut (grated)
2 tsp Curry Leaves (chopped)
2 tsp Coriander Leaves (chopped)
1/2 tsp Pepper Pwd
1/2 tsp Cumin Pwd
1/4 tsp Turmeric Pwd
Salt to taste


Method to make Idli

Dry roast vermicelli, suji and beaten rice separately in a vessel till each of them become brown(Burraaa). Grate vegetables and coconut. Mix grated items along with other masala and roasted items in Yogurt and add salt and Stir it well. Let the dissolved ingredients be soaked in Yogurt for about 3–4 hours. Prepare idli by pouring the batter in idli plates and steam them in a cooker. Serve with coconut chutney and sambar.
